FAQs
General Application
The ROADBAKER mobile oven consists of 3 parts.
The black stainless steel base must always be under the baking pan with on the flame/heat source. In addition, all ROADBAKER dishes should always be baked on the lowest possible flame. (Unless it says otherwise in the ROADBAKER recipe books.) The cooking times are approximately the same as in a conventional oven. The ingredients are placed in the coated baking pan, which should always be greased. Baking is always done at a low temperature. Stoves with an open flame are set slightly higher than the low flame setting. With electric stoves, the plate must first be preheated before you place the ROADBAKER on it. Otherwise you have to add the time for heating the plate. The mold is simply washed off by hand.

The ROADBAKER should only be washed by hand. Dishwasher detergent causes discoloration that has no effect on the baking results. Unfortunately, the discoloration cannot be reversed.

Baking rolls: approx. 15 minutes, lowest heat
Dough from the tin for rolls: approx. 15 minutes, lowest heat
Light yeast bread, 500 g flour: 5 minutes on the highest heat, then 40 minutes on the lowest heat
Wholemeal bread, 500 g flour: 5 minutes on the highest heat, then 50-55 minutes on the lowest heat
Casserole: 5 minutes on the highest heat, then 40 minutes on the lowest heat
Pizza: 15-20 minutes on medium heat
Meatloaf: 5 minutes on high heat, then 30 minutes on medium heat
Lemon cake: 30 minutes on the lowest heat
Please note that this is only an estimate and the baking times may vary depending on the type of stove and recipe.

This depends a little on the baked goods, e.g. 90 seconds on the highest heat, then 6-7 minutes a little more than the lowest heat. Alternatively, 10-12 minutes, slightly more than lowest heat.

Mix all the dry ingredients in a bag, then just add eggs/butter etc. on the way. Or fill a ready-made fresh yeast dough into a bag (use slightly less yeast than stated in the recipe). Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.

The ROADBAKER is a low energy oven. Dishes are usually baked on the lowest heat. Some, especially newer stove models, have a very high KW output. A simmer plate (heat distribution plate, e.g. Truka brand) between the heat source and the oven ensures better heat distribution. With this measure, baked goods will not burn. It is always important to bake on the lowest flame or according to the ROADBAKER recipe instructions.
Sometimes the black stainless steel base of the ROADBAKER oven is forgotten. This leads to overheating at the bottom of the ROADBAKER oven.
A thermometer is often used and attempts to produce temperatures similar to those in a kitchen oven (180-220°). Since the grill thermometers used (third-party products) on the ROADBAKER lid react differently than thermometers in a stationary oven, namely display significantly lower temperatures from the inside of the lid, the heat supply is increased, which then leads to overheating at the bottom of the ROADBAKER oven .

“Simmering” means “slightly simmering”. The simmer plate, also known as a “heat diffuser”, prevents the cookware from coming into direct contact with the actual heat source and is a temperature reducer. The plate consists of a three millimeter thick base that enables effective and even heat distribution. Small holes in the surface prevent direct heat transfer to the cooking pot. This means dishes can no longer burn.

ROADBAKER and stove types
(+) Yes, the ROADBAKER is suitable for all gas hobs.
Examples: Cadac, general: Yes, they fit together.
Cadac Grillo Chef with 30 mbar and Cadac Safari Chef 2 with 50 mbar, the smallest flame can still be too strong.
A heat distributor/simmer plate between the hob and the ROADBAKER produces very good baking results.

(+) Yes, the ROADBAKER is suitable for electric stoves.
With electric stoves, the plate must first be preheated before you place the ROADBAKER on it. Otherwise you have to add the time for heating the plate.
Examples: Electric stove with 1500 watts is suitable, at level 5 = approximately 170/180 degrees = lowest heat for the ROADBAKER

(+/-) In principle, the ROADBAKER can also be used on a petrol stove if the flame can be regulated. However, odor residues from burning gasoline can stick to the food.
Please contact the manufacturer of your stove and ask about suitable fuels for cooking!

(-) Since you cannot regulate the flame, it is unfortunately not suitable for the ROADBAKER. However, according to "Lotus", the grill is also used by their customers for mobile ovens.

(-) The ROADBAKER is suitable for gas, electric and liquid fuel stoves. Not for induction cookers.
With an induction cooker, heat is only generated at the contact points. This means that no heat flows up the middle of the chimney. But this is necessary so that the function of an oven, bottom and top heat, is guaranteed. There are adapter plates for induction cookers on the market that are not recommended because the heat that flows upwards is too low.
